Waiting for my dad in an expensive downtown hotel, it occurred to me that there might be a local network. In fact, there is -- a rather strong one. I plugged in my wireless card and I'm writing this from there.

It's interesting -- and of course part of white privilege -- that I've planted myself on a comfortable sofa in the middle of the lobby, enjoying the air conditioning and the internet access, and nobody's yet asked me what I'm doing here -- not even "can I help you?".
